Day 10 A visit to Nara
What a lovely day - I'd arranged for Hiro to guide us around Nara - he's retired and does 1 guided tour a week to practice his English. It was delightful - we visited Kohfukuji Temple and then stopped at Okamura memorial museum where there was free tea and coffee and the opportunity to be shaken in an earthquake simulation chair which I loved! The company sponsoring the exhibition made seismic isolation plates for buildings. We then went on to visit Todaiji Temple and Daibutsuden the largest bronze buddha in the world! We then walked up to Tamukeyama Hachimangu Shirine where we had a sit down for lunch and free tea! Finally we went to Kasuga Taisha Shrine and then caught the bus back to the station! I'm off out to dinner now photos to follow!
